Sandra E Varona is a Los Angeles-based producer with over 7 years of experience in the industry.
She began producing while studying Film and Television Production at Los Angeles Community College (LACC). During her time there she founded the Varona Film and Television Club (VFTA), which provides students with film production resources and group tours to film related companies and arts organizations.
At the beginning of her career Ms. Varona volunteered and interned for several film festivals, networks and production companies including, The Los Angeles Film Festival, MUN2, LALIFF, Entity FX, and NALIP. Since then she has used that experience to launch a career that has resulted in several short films, live events, PSA’s, television pilots, music videos and feature film projects.
In 2008 Sandra received the Panavision New Filmmaker Grant where a promising filmmaker is provided a full Panavison camera package for the purpose of creating a show reel piece. Ms. Varona utilized a Panavision 16mm film package to produce her first music video, “Bailando,” for artist, Sami Cultura.
Since then she has flourished as a music video producer via her company, Varona Productions, having continued to produce videos for El Roockie, Mexican pop band Kinky, R&B artist Vaughn Anthony (the younger brother and label-mate of John Legend), and Grammy Nominated artist, Eric Roberson.
In October 2010 Varona began her participation in Film Independent’s Project: Involve as one of only 33 filmmakers selected for a year-long diversity program where she produced 2 short films, and received film industry mentoring.

In 2011, Ms. Varona stepped into the feature film arena, serving as Production Manager on the independent feature Filly Brown, which stars Gina Rodriguez, Lou Diamond Phillips, Jenni Rivera and Edward James Olmos. Filly Brown premiered at the Sundance Film Festival 2012 and it scheduled to have a theatrical release this fall.
In addition to producing, Sandra was film festival director this year for the Boyle Heights Latina Independent Film Festival, also known as BHLIFE. The festival made its return on March 2nd-4th with a renovated image and a new home at the Casa0101 Theater.
Currently Sandra is in development on a feature film titled ASHER, starring Mekhi Phifer and Danny Glover. ASHER was written and to be directed by award winning filmmaker, Francisco Ordonez. It was a finalist in the Tribeca Film Festival’s All Access Program and is slated to begin production in fall of 2012.
